Recently, Aamir Khan revealed that he decided to produce "Laapataa Ladies" because he realized that he cannot take on every exciting story; he would rather build a platform for new talent.

In an interaction after the screening, Khan said that the lockdown caused by the COVID-19 pandemic gave him enough time to think about his career.
"I'm 56; I feel I've got another 15 years of active work in me. I'd like to continue working until I'm 70, but you never know, do you?" said Khan.

He explained that "Laapataa Ladies" is his first foray into production, which he hopes is going to give new talent a chance to develop.

"In the past three years, only one film has come out. With all that I've learned, I wanted to give back to the industry and society, which have given me so much. While I could only act in one film a year, as a producer, I have the opportunity to back multiple projects.".

"I want to highlight stories that touch a chord with me. I can't act in every film, so I might as well produce it and provide a platform to new talents. 'Laapataa Ladies' is just the first step. I want to work with new writers, directors and artistes. I want to help four or five films every year," Khan said.

Laapataa Ladies", released in March, opens with the tale of two brides getting switched over in the course of a train journey in rural India.

Produced by Jio Studios, Rao's Kindling Productions, and Khan's Aamir Khan Productions, the film features Nitanshi Goel, Sparsh Srivastav, Pratibha Ranta, and Ravi Kishan in important roles.

According to Rao, Khan has been working with new and first-time directors throughout his acting career without a blink. "My acting projects are once every three years, so I am hoping to do more frequently as a producer," Khan responded.
