Hollywood icon Penelope Cruz once again proved her fashion prowess as she graced the 2025 Oscars red carpet in a breathtaking ensemble, exuding elegance and sophistication.
The 50-year-old 'Pirates of the Caribbean' star made a dazzling return to the prestigious event, donning a romantic white silk chiffon Chanel gown inspired by the brand’s Spring-Summer 1992 collection, according to People magazine.
As a longtime ambassador of the French luxury house since 2018, Cruz turned heads in the exquisite creation, which featured a ruched bodice adorned with shimmering jewel buttons. The ethereal look was completed with a sheer cape flowing from the dress’ straps. Chanel revealed that the intricate craftsmanship behind the gown required 254 hours of meticulous work.
Complementing her elegant attire, the actress accessorized with a selection of striking Chanel high jewelry. Her ensemble included dazzling diamond "Soleil" earrings, a coordinating ring with a round-cut diamond exceeding 5 carats, a "Comete Aubazine" diamond ring, and a "Soleil 19 Aout" brooch showcasing a magnificent 22.10-carat yellow diamond, People reported.
Cruz was among the distinguished presenters at the star-studded affair, sharing the stage with fellow celebrities such as Halle Berry, Bowen Yang, and Scarlett Johansson.
Her history with the Academy Awards dates back to 2000, when she first attended in a stunning cobalt blue Chanel couture gown from the Spring 1995 collection. While she has consistently favored the iconic fashion house, she has also made striking appearances in designs by Balmain, Oscar de la Renta, and Ralph Lauren, according to WWD. Her 2022 Oscars look, a Chanel halter gown from the Fall 2020 collection, reportedly took 680 hours to create.
Beyond her remarkable red carpet legacy, Cruz has also cemented her status in Oscars history. A four-time nominee, she won the Academy Award for Best Supporting Actress in 2009 for her role in Vicky Cristina Barcelona.
Her sartorial brilliance extends beyond award ceremonies. In October, she reunited with Bandidas co-star Salma Hayek at the Wall Street Journal Magazine’s 14th Annual Innovator Awards, held at the Museum of Modern Art in New York City. The two actresses held hands on the red carpet, with Cruz captivating in a sleek silver gown and Hayek dazzling in a bold red dress with sculpted hips.
She also made a striking impression at the 2024 Met Gala, aligning with the theme Sleeping Beauties: Reawakening Fashion in a floral-inspired Chanel creation. The intricately designed gown, incorporating eight different variations of French floral lace in black and silver, reportedly required approximately 500 hours to complete.
