IIT Placements: IT giant Cohesity of United States offers 1.5 crore package

This year the interviews were conducted virtually. California-based IT major Cohesity has offered the highest package of $200,000 (close to Rs 1.5 crore) and trading firm Optiver has offered the second-highest package of 157,000 euros which in Indian rupees is near to Rs 1.4 crore.

Beating the odds of the pandemic, IIT has seen a remarkable increase in placements as multiple firms have offered the package of Rs 80 lakh in some campuses, as compared with last year when the highest package was Rs 62.

California-based IT major Cohesity has offered the highest package of $200,000 (close to Rs 1.5 crore) and trading firm Optiver has offered the second-highest package of 157,000 euros which in Indian rupees is near to Rs 1.4 crore. Optiver has selected students prominently for its Amsterdam and Sydney profiles.

Telecom major Qualcomm selected 11 students from IIT-Bombay and IIT-Madras. The company offered Rs 46.4 lakh. WorldQuant offered rs 39.7 and Rs 37.2 lakh were offered by Uber.

At IIT- Kharagpur, out of 425 internships, 276 candidates were able to get it converted into pre-placement offers. 123 offers were made at IIT-Madras by 22 companies. IIT-Roorkee received 3 international offers. IIT-Kanpur got 226 offers on day one.

"This is the highest number among all other top academic institutes in India at the top MNCs in spite of the current economic condition," said A Rajakumar, chairperson, Career Development Centre, IIT Kharagpur.

At IIT-Bombay, around 18 companies were part of the first session, and the highest offers were made by Microsoft, Google, Texas Instruments, Qualcomm, Boston Consulting Group, Apple, and Bain & Co. A total of 153 placements was received on the campus.
