As many as 10 million youth stand to gain from the PM Internship Scheme launched by the Modi government, it is reported.
The Union Finance Minister Nirmala Sitharaman had announced the scheme as part of the Union Budget for the financial year 2024-25.
Under the scheme, each intern will be paid an allowance of Rs 5,000 per month, and after a year, he will get a lumpsum of Rs 6,000 as additional benefit from the government.
The PM Internship Scheme official website was launched on yesterday Thursday.
The Centre also issued a notification stating that Scheduled Castes, Scheduled Tribes and Other Backward Classes candidates will be followed along with the reservation policies for this scheme.
The registration for the scheme will begin from October 12 and continue till October 25.
The interested candidates can apply for this internship program during this period. The technology partner for this internship program is Bhaskaracharya Institute for Space Applications and Geoinformatics (BISAG).
From 27th October to 7th November, the company will make a shortlist of candidates, after which the shortlisted candidates will be provided an opportunity to exercise their choice to accept the internship offer between November 8 and November 15.
This scheme is set to be launched on December 2 and will be valid for 13 months.
Of the stipend amount, Rs 500 is expected to come from the CSR funds of companies, while the government will bear Rs 4,500 per individual.
The total cost of this pilot project is estimated to be around Rs 800 crore. The advertisements for this internship scheme have already been released in various regional languages.
The government intends to avail as many internships as possible in the respective districts where the candidate will stay.
The applicants should be between the ages of 21-24 years, have cleared their 10th-grade exams, and possess a valid certificate and mark sheet.
More than 111 companies among the top 500 already enrolled under this scheme, according to reports.
