Steve Jobs Handwritten 1976 Check Fetches Over $36K in Auction

This check, bearing the "Apple Computer Company" account details from a Wells Fargo Bank branch, adds to the growing market for Jobs' signature and memorabilia.

Steve Jobs' memorabilia, particularly his signed checks and artifacts related to Apple's early days, continue to fetch significant sums at auctions. Recently, a $4 check written by Jobs to Radio Shack in 1976 was auctioned for $36,850 by RR Auction in the US.

This check, bearing the "Apple Computer Company" account details from a Wells Fargo Bank branch, adds to the growing market for Jobs' signature and memorabilia. Last year, another Apple Computer check signed by Jobs in 1976 sold for $55,000, while a check from the same year to Elmar Electronics was sold in March for $37,564.

Notably, Jobs' signature on various items has been highly sought after. His signature on a job application from 1973, considered his oldest known signature, fetched $174,757 in 2018. Additionally, his signature on the original Apple founding contract alongside Steve Wozniak and Ronald Wayne was sold in 2011 for $1,594,500.

In a separate auction, a first-generation sealed iPhone from 2007, originally priced at $599, was sold earlier this year for $54,904. This particular device was put up for sale by a former Apple employee who had purchased it upon its initial release.

The enduring fascination with Jobs' legacy and the historical significance of Apple's early artifacts continue to attract collectors and enthusiasts to these auctions, resulting in considerable bids for these pieces of tech history.
