Samsung's Flagship Galaxy S24 Series to Leverage Google Cloud AI Technology

Samsung and Google Cloud have forged a multi-year partnership, unveiling plans to integrate Google Cloud's generative artificial intelligence (AI) technology into Samsung's smartphones, starting with the upcoming Galaxy S24 series. This collaboration positions Samsung as the first Google Cloud partner to implement Gemini Pro and Imagen 2 on Vertex AI via the cloud for their smartphone lineup.

Gemini is capable of understanding and integrating various types of information, such as text, code, images, and video.

The implementation of Gemini Pro on Vertex AI will initially benefit Samsung-native applications, enabling users to utilize the summarization feature in Notes, Voice Recorder, and Keyboard. Samsung gains access to crucial Google Cloud features like security, safety, privacy, and data compliance through this integration.

Users of the Galaxy S24 series will also enjoy the advantages of Imagen 2, Google's advanced text-to-image diffusion technology. Imagen 2 on Vertex AI empowers Samsung to deliver safe and user-friendly photo-editing capabilities, as seen in the Generative Edit2 feature in the S24's Gallery application.

Thomas Kurian, CEO of Google Cloud, highlighted that Samsung's developers can leverage Google Cloud's robust infrastructure and performance through Gemini, enabling the creation of engaging generative AI applications on Samsung smartphones.

In parallel, Qualcomm announced that its premium Snapdragon 8 Gen 3 Mobile Platform is powering the latest flagship Galaxy S24 Ultra globally, as well as the Galaxy S24 Plus and S24 in select regions. Chris Patrick, Senior Vice President, and General Manager of Mobile Handset at Qualcomm, emphasized the advanced AI capabilities of the Snapdragon 8 Gen 3 for Galaxy, enhancing user experiences across various aspects, including camera functionality, gaming experiences, and ultra-fast connectivity with Wi-Fi 7.
