Piyush Goyal Stays Optimistic About Achieving the USD 2 Trillion Export Target

Union Commerce and Industry Minister Piyush Goyal recently expressed confidence in India's ability to achieve its ambitious export target of USD 2 trillion by 2030, despite prevailing geopolitical challenges and inflationary pressures.

During the inauguration of the Patsan Bhavan in Kolkata, Goyal acknowledged the complexities brought about by global issues like the Ukraine conflict, the Israel situation, and concerns regarding the Red Sea. He emphasized that despite these challenges, India aims to substantially grow its exports, targeting a figure of USD 2 trillion by 2030, significantly higher than the current USD 770-775 billion mark.

The minister highlighted the potential of the jute industry and stressed the need for collaborative efforts from both the central and state governments to harness its capabilities effectively. Currently, India's jute exports amount to around Rs 1,500 crore, and Goyal encouraged industry stakeholders to escalate this figure further.

Additionally, he urged the jute sector to showcase its products at Bharat Tex 2024, a significant textiles event scheduled from February 26-29 in New Delhi, emphasizing its importance on a global scale.

Goyal, who also oversees the portfolios of textiles, consumer affairs, food, and public distribution, called attention to the achievements of the central government. He also sought support from the people of West Bengal in the upcoming general elections.
