India's per capita income doubles since 2014-15
According to National Statistics Office (NSO) data, the per capita income in terms of net national income, in current prices, was Rs 1,72,000 in 2022-23, showing a growth of 15.8 per cent over the previous year. This is almost double of Rs 86,647, which was the per capita income in 2014-15. According to the NSO data, per capita income at the current prices was estimated at Rs 1,27,065 and Rs 1,48,524 respectively for the years 2020-21 and 2021-22.
Iconic chocolate Toblerone to change packing design under new Swiss laws
The image of the jagged mountain peak, used on the chocolate's packaging since 1970, will have to change as some of Toblerone's production was moved outside Switzerland, and a 2017 Swiss law states that national symbols cannot be allowed to promote milk-based products that are not made exclusively in the country, the BBC reported. The chocolate will undergo a labelling revamp.
Tamil Nadu power loom workers welcome government move for 250 units more of free power
The state government, in an order on Saturday, increased the number of free units to power looms from 750 to 1,000 units, while for hand looms, there is an increase of free power from 200 units to 300 units. The state government has also reduced the power tariff units above 1,000 units from Rs 1.40 to 0.70 paisa per unit.
