Mukesh Ambani turns 8th richest person in the world
Ambani's wealth increased 24 per cent on a year-on-year basis on the back of a surge in the value of energy-to-telecom giant RIL. Among the countries, India rose to third spot with 177 billionaires, 40 more than last year.
Zoom revenue up 369%, set for strong growth
For the full fiscal year 2021, total revenue was $2,651.4 million, up 326 per cent year-over-year. Zoom said that total revenue is expected to be between $900 million and $905 million for the first quarter of financial year 2022.
Sensex opens 400 points higher, reclaims 50,000
Sensex opened at 50,258.09, higher by 408.25 points from its previous close of 49,849.84 points. Healthy buying was witnessed in IT, oil and gas and banking stocks. The gainers on the Sensex were Bajaj Finance, Tech Mahindra and Infosys, while the only losers were ONGC, HDFC and Power Grid.
Low interest rates, pent up demand buoy February auto sales
Analysts cited factors such as preference for personal mobility over public transport due to the pandemic as the other key reasons for the upswing. Besides, higher government spending in the infra space was credited to have given a push to the commercial vehicle segment.
Maruti Suzuki's Feb sales up 11.8%
Automobile major Maruti Suzuki on Monday reported a growth of 11.8 per cent in its overall sales during February 2021 on a year-on-year basis. The company sold 1,64,469 units of vehicles last month, against 1,47,110 units sold in February 2020.
Sensex closes 750 points up; auto, metal index surge
The key Indian equity indices soared on Monday with the BSE Sensex closing nearly 750 points higher.
Auto, metal and banking stocks surged during the day while IT stocks fell. Sensex closed at 49,849.84, higher by 749.85 points or 1.53 per cent from its previous close of 49,099.99.
Hyderabad airport bags best airport award
GMR Hyderabad International Airport Ltd (GHIAL) has bagged Airports Council International (ACI) Airport Service Quality (ASQ) award for 2020. Hyderabad Airport has been adjudged as the 'Best Airport by Size and Region' in Asia-Pacific region for 2020, in its category of 15-25 Million Passengers Per Annum (MPPA).
February manufacturing growth remains flat: PMI
"Better demand conditions and successful marketing campaigns reportedly underpinned a further increase in new orders during February," said IHS Markit in the February PMI report. Although easing from January, the pace of growth remained sharp in the context of historical data, it added.
Cyber intel firm warns Chinese hackers infiltrated India's power sector
The company, Recorded Future, warned, "As bilateral tensions continue to rise, we expect to see a continued increase in cyber operations being conducted by China-linked groups such as RedEcho in line with national strategic interests."
Petrol, diesel prices remain unchanged on Monday
Petrol and diesel prices have been rising continuously since February 9. In the 14 increases since then, prices have gone up by Rs 4.22 per litre for petrol while diesel rate has risen by Rs 4.34 a litre in Delhi.
