Dividend windfall may help stretched govt finances as PSUs' financials strengthen

Government sources said that most PSUs are performing well and numbers for the first quarter are indicative of rising revenues and profitability. If this is sustained, the government may get higher income as PSUs dividend this year. Though official sources maintained that no numbers had been worked out as yet, it could be close to double of Rs 30,000 crore garnered from roughly two dozen PSUs in FY21.
Sensex plunges 500 points amid selloff in metal and finance stocks

The across-the-board selloff was led by metal and finance stocks. Around 12.20 p.m., Sensex was trading at 52,040.60, lower by 512.8 points or 0.98 per cent from its previous close of 52,553.40. It opened at 52,432.88 and has touched an intra-day high of 52,465.03 and a low of 52,013.51 points. The Nifty50 on the National Stock Exchange was trading at 15,626.25.

Longest pause in weeks, no change in fuel prices for 3 days

Accordingly, in the national capital, petrol continues to be sold for Rs 101.84 per litre, while diesel is also being sold at the unchanged price of Rs 89.87 a litre. One of the main reasons for pause in fuel price rise is over 10 per cent fall in global oil prices with benchmark crude sliding to $69 a barrel from a high of over $77 barrel just couple of weeks back.
