Indian-origin Rahul Roy Chowdhury to be new CEO of Grammarly

San Francisco-based writing assistance company, Grammarly, has announced that Rahul Roy Chowdhury, an Indian-origin executive, will be taking over as CEO starting May 1, 2023. Chowdhury is currently serving as the global head of product at Grammarly.

In a tweet, Chowdhury expressed his deep belief in the company's mission to improve lives by improving communication. Chowdhury said he joined Grammarly two years ago with this mission in mind, and he is honored to serve it as the company's CEO.

“I joined @Grammarly two years ago because of a deep belief in our mission to improve lives by improving communication. I’m honored to serve that mission in a new capacity as Grammarly’s CEO, starting May 1. We're just getting started!" he tweeted.

Brad Hoover, the current CEO of Grammarly, praised Chowdhury's mission-driven and user-focused approach to product and technology.

“Rahul’s product and technology background is a tremendous asset, and he is well-positioned to help us navigate the path ahead. Rahul is also mission-driven and fiercely user-focused, and his experience and learnings from building Chrome into a platform can help us move faster at scale," Hoover said.

“During his two years at Grammarly, Rahul has focused on driving excellence and helped us up-level as a company. He has pushed our thinking and driven the organization forward with clarity, keen judgment, and sound decision-making," he added.

Chowdhury brings extensive experience in product management to his role as CEO, having worked at Google for 14 years before joining Grammarly. At Google, he served as the vice president of product management.
