India Set to Outpace China and US in Economic Growth, USISPF Chairman John Chambers

Speaking at the Annual India Leadership Summit 2024, which USISPF had organized in New Delhi, Chambers complimented the speed at which India is moving forward under Prime Minister Narendra Modi's leadership.

US-India Strategic Partnership Forum Chairman John Chambers today said India will not only surpass China and America on key economic measures but will also catapult to nearly 100 per cent higher growth in GDP per capita income compared to China and 33% larger growth than the US in the near future, such is the nature of its growth.

Speaking at the Annual India Leadership Summit 2024, which USISPF had organized in New Delhi, Chambers complimented the speed at which India is moving forward under Prime Minister Narendra Modi's leadership.

"This was the fulcrum moment when President Biden and Prime Minister Modi met in Washington and declared that this is the most strategic partnership ever formed," Chambers said.

India will be nearly 100 per cent bigger than China in terms of GDP per capita income growth," he says. "The standard of living and overall growth here will outstrip any other country in the world during this period. In fact, India will be 33 percent larger than the US," he added.

In hindsight, when looking back on his decade-long relationship with Prime Minister Modi, Cisco Systems' former Chief Executive reflected that he had known early on that he was going to take India to new heights.

"When PM Modi came to power, I had the chance to hear his vision for India. Immediately, I knew he laid the foundation for India's future… I knew he would serve this country for the next five years and deliver an extraordinary transformation," Chambers said.

"I would argue that for the first five years, this administration did a remarkable job setting the stage for a decade of growth, positioning India as the fastest-growing economy in the world," he noted.

"This is India's century," Chambers emphasized, adding that by collaborating closely with the US, along with leaders from business, government, academia, and ordinary citizens, India could become a model for global growth.

Further, he asserts that with a strong US-India partnership, "We could potentially accelerate India's GDP growth by two per cent annually and increase US GDP growth by one per cent."

The USISPF summit comes close on the heels of the successful visit of PM Modi to the United States, wherein, he attended the Sixth Quad Leaders' Summit in the US President's hometown and the United Nations General Assembly in New York.

It is meant to be a step toward strengthening bilateral trade, boosting supply chains, and increase cooperation on matters such as investment in semiconductors, AI, and next-generation technologies.
It can also serve to deepen defence ties, clean energy, a free and open Indo-Pacific and a deepening dynamic strategic partnership between Washington and New Delhi.
