Empowering Progress: Adani Electricity's High-Powered Performance in 2023 Sets the Stage for 2024

Adani Electricity Mumbai Ltd (AEML) marked an outstanding performance in 2023, and the company anticipates maintaining its robust momentum in 2024, officials announced on Saturday. Serving over three million consumers across 400 square kilometers in Mumbai and suburbs, AEML delivers nearly 2000 MW of power daily with an impressive 99% reliability rate, ranking among the highest in the country.

AEML seamlessly met a peak power demand on June 9, supplying a remarkable 2,160 MW on a single day to illuminate the bustling city. In 2023, AEML achieved significant milestones, including providing power to 100,000 new connections and witnessing 4,500 customers transitioning to its services.

Digital payments gained prominence, with approximately 88% of AEML's customers opting for digital transactions, rendering cash almost obsolete. Over 300,000 customers embraced paperless billing, contributing to significant tree conservation efforts.

AEML's commitment to environmental sustainability garnered attention, as the company supplied 38% of 'green' energy to Mumbai from renewable solar power in 2023. The company aims to achieve a target of 60% by 2027 to further reduce the city's carbon footprint. A total of 2,532 'green customers' joined this initiative, emphasizing the growing importance of sustainability.

During Diwali 2023, AEML played a vital role in reducing carbon emissions by enabling Mumbai to avoid 9.84 million kg of CO2, equivalent to safeguarding the lungs of a million Pandas amid the festive revelry. AEML also surprised around three million homes and establishments, comprising 12 million Mumbaikars, with a Diwali gift – 1,200 MW of 'clean' energy from renewable sources for four hours on a Sunday.

Mumbai embraced solar power with 270 rooftop solar installations, covering an area equivalent to 45 football fields with sunlight. AEML's environmental initiatives extended to planting 452,892 trees, forming a substantial forest, and recycling 404,561 tons of ash, enough to build a castle for Mother Earth.

With a network of 74,243 power pillars and 24,732 kms of cables, AEML continues to contribute significantly to the electrification of Mumbai. On the corporate social responsibility (CSR) front, AEML impacted the lives of 3,563 individuals, educated 237 women, and engaged millions online, spreading joy and radiating positive energy.
