EAC-PM Chairman Bibek Debroy, an extremely active member during NDA times, is no more; he expired this morning said a senior official of the EAC-PM on Tuesday.
He had passed out from the Ramakrishna Mission School, Narendrapur, Presidency College, Kolkata, Delhi School of Economics, and Trinity College, Cambridge, and had many books to his credit.
He has worked in Presidency College, Kolkata; Gokhale Institute of Politics and Economics, Pune; Indian Institute of Foreign Trade, Delhi; and also as the Director of a Ministry of Finance/UNDP project on legal reforms.
He was also a Member of NITI Aayog till June 5, 2019. He has authored/edited several books, papers and popular articles and has also been a Consulting/Contributing Editor with several newspapers.
Prime Minister Narendra Modi condoled Debroy's death, describing him as a "towering scholar."
"He was an towering scholar who knew of all these varied domains: economics, history, culture, politics, spirituality, and more. His works have left an indelible mark on the intellectual landscape of India. And besides public policy contributions, he loved working on our ancient texts, for which he took the pains for the youth to better grasp," he posted on X.
He also shared a picture with him and Debroy.
