For the first time since 2007, state-owned telecom giant Bharat Sanchar Nigam Limited (BSNL) recorded a profit of Rs 262 crore for the third quarter of the current fiscal year on Friday.
According to a statement from BSNL, this milestone demonstrates the company's emphasis on innovation, aggressive network growth, cost optimisation, and customer-centric service enhancements.
"We anticipate revenue growth to further improve, surpassing 20% by the end of the fiscal year," stated A. Robert J. Ravi, chairman and managing director of BSNL. Compared to the third quarter of the previous year, revenue from mobility, FTTH, and leased lines has climbed by 15%, 18%, and 14%, respectively.
He added that BSNL has successfully cut its overall spending and finance costs, which has resulted in a decrease in losses of more than Rs 1,800 crore over the previous year.
According to Ravi, the government's assistance with important revitalisation projects like spectrum distribution and cash infusion has been crucial in supporting our activities.
According to him, BSNL has launched new innovations including IFTV for all FTTH users, BiTV (Free Entertainment) for all mobile customers, and National WiFi Roaming.
According to Ravi, the ongoing emphasis on service quality and assurance has improved consumer confidence and solidified BSNL's standing as India's top telecom service provider.
“This Rs 262 crore profit underscores the BSNL’s resurgence and long-term sustainability. As we continue on this growth trajectory, we remain committed to delivering higher value to our shareholders, expanding market opportunities, and driving innovation,” he added.
With mobility services revenue rising by 15% during the October-December quarter, fiber-to-the-home (FTTH) revenue increasing by 18%, and leased line services revenue jumping by 14% over the same quarter last year, BSNL reported strong double-digit growth across all of its services.
By upgrading its fiber-optic infrastructure and accelerating the implementation of 4G, BSNL has been rapidly growing its network.
According to the BSNL head, it has also improved connection in both urban and rural regions and implemented customer-focused digital innovations, like as nationwide WiFi roaming, which allows for seamless internet access across networks.
This financial recovery demonstrates BSNL's dedication to provide cost-effective, high-quality telecom services while promoting India's digital development. According to a business statement, the company is still committed to improving service delivery, growing its clientele, and supporting the goals of Digital India and Atmanirbhar Bharat.
