Akasa Air has added its 40th aircraft to its fleet, marking another milestone for the nearly four-year-old carrier as it continues to expand its domestic and international operations.
The airline has inducted nine new Boeing 737 MAX aircraft so far in 2025.
Announcing the latest addition on Saturday, Akasa Air said the new aircraft is a Boeing 737 MAX 8-200 registered as VT-YBQ.
"The first leg of the aircraft's delivery flight commenced from Seattle, USA, to Reykjavik, Iceland and concluded with the final leg from Cairo, Egypt, to Bengaluru," the airline said in a release.
Speaking to PTI, Akasa Air Founder and Chief Executive Officer Vinay Dube described the induction of the 40th aircraft as a significant achievement for the airline, saying there is tremendous excitement around the milestone.
Akasa Air began commercial operations in August 2022 and currently operates services connecting 28 domestic destinations and seven international cities. The airline has placed an order for a total of 226 Boeing 737 MAX aircraft.
