Ola planning to home deliver its Series S electric scooter

The pre-order for the all-new Series S electric scooter began with a reservation price of Rs 500. With the innovation in technology, Ola also decided to change the delivery system from the traditional in-store purchase to direct payment and delivery service. This mechanism will provide Ola with much more efficiency, savings from logistical methods of showrooms and sales networks.

Ola’s electric arm Ola Electric is planning to home deliver its Series S electric scooter after managing to garner more than 1 lakh bookings within 24 hours of beginning pre-orders on July 15.

The pre-order for the all-new Series S electric scooter began with a reservation price of Rs 500. With the innovation in technology, Ola also decided to change the delivery system from the traditional in-store purchase to direct payment and delivery service. This mechanism will provide Ola with much more efficiency, savings from logistical methods of showrooms and sales networks.

Instead of going to a showroom to pick the Ola Series S scooter, the buyer will be delivered their scooter directly to their home. This move will also benefit Ola from paying the third-party vendors and hence saving costs overall.

Many modern automotive companies are looking for similar renditions of direct deliveries, most notably American electric car maker Tesla.

Meanwhile, Ola will not compromise on the showroom comfort and will set up experience centres where potential buyers will be able to check out the product in person.

Currently, Ola Electric is considering developing a logistical network in and around metro cities for ease of charge and efficiency for its scooters.

However, the brand is currently tight-lipped about this aspect. The company will put up ‘Hypercharger’ fast-charging stations in over 400 cities. Nevertheless, the scooter is expected to come with a 5A wall charger.

Moreover, it is likely to be priced somewhere around Rs. 1 lakh (ex-showroom) and offers a range of more than 100 km on one full charge. It will also have around 10 colour options.
