Ola Chief executive officer Bhavish Agarwal on Thursday said that Ola Electric has sold its brand-new scooters at the rate of 4 per second with the overall sales amounting to over Rs 600 crore all within a day.
Ola has sold more than the entire 2-wheeler industry put together on Wednesday, Agarwal said. He further stated that the last bookings for the new scooters are opened till Thursday midnight following which the sale will be closed.
Ola Electric is the all-electric branch of the indigenous rideshare company Ola Cabs based in Bangalore. Earlier when the Ola electric scooter was announced, the pre-booking skyrocketed with thousands of bookings in its initial offering phase.

“India is committing to EVs and rejecting petrol! We sold 4 scooters/sec at peak & sold scooters worth 600Cr+ in a day! Today is the last day, the purchase will shut at midnight. So lock in this introductory price and buy on the Ola app before we sell out!,” Agarwal tweeted.
The scooter is offered in two trims, the S1 which starts at Rs 99,999 and the S1 Pro which is offered at Rs 1,29,999. However, the price range differs in different states. For Delhi, the S1 will cost Rs 85,099 and the S1 Pro will cost Rs 1,10,149 (all prices are ex-showroom).
Both of the variants have same 8.5 kW peak motor power however, the S1 Pro has been tweaked for better performance and range overall. They both have the same boot capacity space of 36 litres and can give a range of 75 km in just 18 minutes of charge via a fast charger.

The S1 offers a maximum range of 121 km with a top speed of 90 km/hr. It reaches 40km/hr speed in just 3.6 seconds and has 2 driving modes, Normal and sports. It is offered in 5 different colour variants. Meanwhile, the S1 Pro offers a maximum range of 181km with top speed of 115 km/hr. It reaches 40 km/hr in 3 seconds straight and has 3 driving modes, Normal, Sports and Hyper. It is offered in 10 different colours.
While the sale was to start on September 8, it postponed the process by a week to September 15, as it faced "technical difficulties" in making the website for purchases live for customers.
