Ola Electric Debuts E-Motorcycles, Plans In-House Battery Cell Integration by Early FY26

Bhavish Aggarwal, founder and chairman, Ola Electric, said today about two-thirds of India's two-wheeler market comprises motorcycles, and now, with the entry of Ola in this segment, the adoption for electric vehicles in this category will go up the curve.

Ola Electric on Thursday unveiled a line of electric motorcycles and announced indigenously integrating its own battery cells into vehicles by Q1 FY26. These models would be the Roadster, Roadster X, and Roadster Pro at an introductory price of Rs 74,999, Rs 1,04,999, and Rs 1,99,999 respectively. It teased two upcoming motorcycles – Sportster and Arrowhead.

Aggarwal has further suggested that Ola's battery cells should be intrinsic in nature to the vehicles starting early next year. He feels this will jumpstart mass EV adoption in the country.

It is running trial production of such cells at its Gigafactory. It revealed the Bharat 4680 cell and battery pack, besides its new Gen-3 platform and MoveOS 5 at the 'Sankalp 2024' event at its Futurefactory in Krishnagiri, Tamil Nadu.

With a peak motor output of 11 kW, Roadster X is the fastest electric motorcycle in its segment. It comes in 2.5 kWh, 3.5 kWh, and 4.5 kWh battery variants, while the top-end variant reaches 0-40 kmph in just 2.8 seconds. The top speed touched by Roadster X is 124 km/h and a range of up to 200 km.

The Roadster Pro brings even higher performance and tech. Harnessed with a peak power of 52 kW and 105 Nm torque motor, the 16 kWh variant does 0-40 kmph in just 1.2 seconds, 0-60 kmph in 1.9 seconds, and attains a top speed of 194 km/h.

In line with the S1 scooter range, the Ola Electric is going to offer an eight-year warranty on the battery across its entire motorcycle lineup.
