Maruti Suzuki's Passenger Car Production Drops 16% in October, Utility Vehicles Surge by 33%

Its passenger car production was 89,174 units in October this year compared to 1,06,190 units in October 2023, which registered a decline of 16 percent, Maruti Suzuki India said in the filing.

Car market leader Maruti Suzuki India said that production of passenger cars decreased 16 percent in October this year, while for utility vehicles, it was a 33 percent increase over October 2023. This is according to the latest regulatory filing by the company.
Its passenger car production was 89,174 units in October this year compared to 1,06,190 units in October 2023, which registered a decline of 16 percent, Maruti Suzuki India said in the filing.

On the other hand, production of utility vehicles including Brezza, Ertiga, Fronx, Jimny, XL6, and those supplied to Toyota Kirloskar Motor increased by 33.18 per cent to 72,339 units from 54,316 units in the year-ago month.
Production of mini cars, which includes Alto and S-Presso, declined to 12,787 units last month from 14,073 units in October 2023.

Small cars Baleno, Celerio, Dzire, Ignis, Swift, WagonR and those sold to Toyota Kirloskar Motor witnessed an output of 75,007 units compared with 90,783 units in the same period last year.

The company filing said the production of mid-sized sedan Ciaz increased only marginally to 1,380 units last month from 1,334 units in the corresponding period a year ago.

Total passenger vehicle production was marginally higher at 1,73,662 units against 1,73,230 units in October 2023.

The company said total vehicle production, including passenger vehicles and light commercial vehicles, was higher last month at 1,77,312 units from 1,76,437 units in October 2023.
