Maruti Suzuki has announced a big milestone for Swift in India—it crossed three million in sales. The company had introduced the Epic New Swift last May, which not only brought in new benchmarks but accelerated the prestigious Swift legacy onto this podium of three million in sales.
For Partho Banerjee, senior executive officer of marketing & sales, Maruti Suzuki India, each new generation of Swift continues to set new benchmarks on technology sophistication, updated design, and distinctive 'Swift DNA' that compare well with customer expectations.
Banerjee thanked all Swift owners for their continued support around the country, while detailing how the model had evolved since its launch way back in 2005. Inspired by Suzuki's Hayabusa motorcycle, the Swift introduced seductive novelty with the segment-first features of climate control, airbags and ABS.
Globally, it has sold over 6.5 million units of the Swift alone; out of these, India is the largest market. The car touched a million sales in 2013, within eight years of its launch, while crossing the two million-unit mark happened last year in 2018. Back in May, Maruti Suzuki had launched the fourth generation Epic New Swift priced from Rs 6.49 lakh onwards ex-showroom, India.
