Bajaj Auto, one of India's giants in two-wheelers, has come out with a world's first innovation by launching the Freedom 125, which runs on Compressed Natural Gas—the first motorcycle to do so. It will be offered across three variants at Rs 95,000, starting at the base variant and ex-showroom, offered with a strong 125-CC engine that would run easily on both petrol and CNG.
The launch event was held in Pune, where Managing Director of Bajaj Auto, Rajiv Bajaj, showcased the CNG motorcycle. It was launched in the presence of Union Minister for Road Transport & Highways, Nitin Gadkari. To talk about its design, the CNG tank, located under the seat, has a capacity of up to two kilograms and is supported by a two-litre petrol tank to return an appreciable range of 330 km, according to the company.
It has been about the cost-benefit that riders will derive, maybe a cut in operational expenses by even 50%, says Rajiv Bajaj. Improved comfort with the longest-in-class seat, mono-linked suspension for greater comfort; modernity with Bluetooth connectivity.
The Bajaj Freedom CNG can return as much as 102 km/kg of CNG, which in contrasting, would translate to close to a range of 200 kilometers on a full CNG tank. Its engine specifications include a maximum power output of 9.5 PS; the peak torque produced in this three-wheeler is 9.7 Nm.
Early in May, Bajaj Auto took the market by storm with the launch of the long-anticipated 'Pulsar NS400Z.' The motorbike will come to the Indian market at the price of Rs 1,85,000 for the ex-showroom model and be available in Glossy Racing Red, Brooklyn Black, Pearl Metallic White, and Pewter Grey.
