Ather 450S Goes Electric: 3.7 kWh Battery, ₹1.46 Lakh Price & Performance Insights

Ather Energy has launched a new variant of its 450S electric scooter in India, featuring a more capable 3.7 kWh battery.

The model is priced at ₹1.46 lakh (ex-showroom), and as an enhanced version with an improved range, it is aimed at making the scooter a better choice at the entry level.

The launch comes after the introduction of the Rizta model, which too gets the same battery capacity. This refresh places the new 450S in between the existing 450S 2.9 kWh and more premium 450X 3.7 kWh offerings.

The new model's biggest selling point is the larger 3.7 kWh battery, which gives the scooter a dramatically increased range—rated at 161 km under IDC conditions, up from the 115 km range of the 2.9 kWh version. This is even though the scooter's performance specifications remain unchanged. It still features its 5.4 kW electric motor that delivers a peak torque of 22 Nm. The scooter goes from 0 to 40 kmph in merely 3.9 seconds and has a top speed of 90 kmph. Four ride modes—Smart Eco, Eco, Ride, and Sport—are available for riders to select according to their preference for efficiency or power.

To give customers additional peace of mind, the 450S 3.7 is offered with Ather's Eight70 warranty package. This offers protection for eight years or until 80,000 km, ensuring that the battery will have a minimum of 70 percent of its health remaining throughout this time. Ather has revealed that deliveries will start in August 2025, while buyers can already book online or at official Ather showrooms.

Dimensions and visually, the new model does not change from the base 450S. It maintains the same edgy and sleek looks along with 12-inch alloy wheels on both ends. The scooter still has a 7-inch LCD dashboard supporting turn-by-turn directions and derives advantage over-the-air (OTA) software updates through AtherStack.

Safety continues to be a priority for Ather, with the 450S 3.7 offering features such as AutoHold, Fall Safe, Emergency Stop Signal, and Alexa integration. Charging the scooter from 0 to 80 percent using a home charger takes approximately 4.5 hours.
