BMW Unveils the R12 GS Enduro Motorcycle for Global Markets

Based on the same platform as other R12 models, this bike adopts a more adventure-oriented personality.

Commemorating 45 years of BMW's iconic GS series, the company has launched the new R12 GS for international markets. Based on the same platform as other R12 models, this bike adopts a more adventure-oriented personality.

As an enduro bike, the R12 GS is equipped with features that make it better suited for off-road riding. The standard model rides on 21-inch front and 17-inch rear cross-spoke wheels, with the Enduro Pro model having an additional large 18-inch rear wheel. Both models have different seat heights, with 860mm for the Standard and 870mm for the Enduro Pro. Suspension travel for both models is the same at 200mm front and 210mm rear. Weighing in at 229kg (kerb), it's a big machine for an off-road orientated bike. One of the highlights of the R12 GS is its retro-futuristic styling, a tribute to the legendary R80 GS. Details such as the front beak, small round headlamp housed in a cowl, a square fuel tank, and the paralever swingarm are all nods to its legendary ancestor. Propelling the motorcycle is a 1,170cc boxer-twin motor producing 107.5bhp and 115Nm of torque, along with a six-speed gearbox and an assist and slipper clutch.

Globally, the BMW R12 GS comes with four different color options. Whether it would come to India or not is a question, but it will definitely have a premium price range, which would be more than ₹21.10 lakh—the price of BMW R 12 nineT roadster.
