On Monday, a farmers delegation reached Raj Bhavan raising a demand to pass the bill alleging that the Governor has been sitting on it keeping it pending. However, the Governor said no bill has come to Raj Bhavan regarding amendment in the Rajasthan Agricultural Credit Operation (Removal of Difficulties - RODA) Act.

Vice President M. Venkaiah Naidu was to be the Chief Guest on this occasion but due to his inability to attend the function, his message will be virtually delivered during the function. Union Minister for Law and Justice Kiren Rijiju will grace the function as the Guest of Honour.

Senior Congress leader R.P.N. Singh resigned from the party on Tuesday, a day after being named as one of the party's star campaigners. Sources said he was miffed over party affairs in his home district of Padrauna as he was not taken into confidence on many issues related to party functioning in his turf. Singh tweeted: "Today, at a time, we are celebrating the formation of our great Republic, I begin a new chapter in my political journey. Jai Hind."

UP CM Yogi Adityanath on Tuesday lashed out at the Samajwadi Party leaders and said that they were not 'Samajwadi' but 'tamanchawadi' and followed the gun culture. In a tweet, he slammed Akhilesh Yadav's 'Jinnah' comment and said: "Those who do not think Pakistan is an enemy, Jinnah seems to be a friend. What can be said about his education and vision? They call themselves socialists, but the truth is that 'gun culture' runs in their veins."

Two Samajwadi Party candidates -- Mohd Azam Khan and Nahid Hasan -- will contest the Uttar Pradesh Assembly elections from jail. Mohd Azam Khan, SP MP, has been named as the party candidate form Rampur. Azam Khan has been in jail since February 2020 after multiple cases were lodged against him. He has applied for bail in the Supreme Court and is awaiting decision.

 With the All India Majlis-e-Ittehadul Muslimeen (AIMIM), led by Asaduddin Owaisi, having fielded Maulana Umair Madani from the Deoband Assembly seat in Saharanpur district, the fight for Muslim votes in western Uttar Pradesh is bound to intensify. Maulana Umair Madani comes from a prominent Madani family of Deoband. His father Maulana Masood Madani was a former minister in the Uttarakhand government, his uncle Maulana Mahmood Madani is president of Jamiat Ulama-i-Hind and his grandfather Arshad Madani is principal of Islamic seminary Darul Uloom Deoband.

Imam made the alleged inflammatory speeches in Jamia Millia Islamia, Delhi on December 13, 2019, and in Aligarh Muslim University, UP on January 16, 2020. He has been in judicial custody since January 28, 2020, and is presently lodged in Tihar Jail in Delhi.

 In a notification issued on Monday, the Delhi government announced that as part of its new liquor policy, the number of 'dry days' in national capital has been reduced from 21 to three starting this year. As per the notification, Delhi will observe three dry days from now on -- Republic Day (January 26), Independence Day (August 15) and Gandhi Jayanti (October 2).

Sadar Bazar protest site is originally Shahi Idgaah. The Shastri Park protest site was Wahid Jama Masjid. Gandhi Park protest site was actually Jamila Masjid.
