Unprecedented Drone Assault: Russia Strikes Kiev in Largest Attack Since Ukraine Invasion Commenced

Announcing the development on Telegram, the Air Force Command of the Ukrainian Armed Forces revealed that Russia deployed 75 kamikaze drones, specifically Shahed-131 and Shahed-136 models, with the majority directed at the capital, Kiev. 

In a significant escalation of hostilities, Russia initiated its most extensive drone assault on Kiev since the onset of the Ukraine invasion, according to Ukrainian officials on Saturday.

Announcing the development on Telegram, the Air Force Command of the Ukrainian Armed Forces revealed that Russia deployed 75 kamikaze drones, specifically Shahed-131 and Shahed-136 models, with the majority directed at the capital, Kiev.

Despite the intensity of the attack, Ukrainian air defense successfully neutralized 71 of the drones, as reported by Xinhua news agency.

This drone onslaught, spanning six hours, represents the fourth assault on Kiev within the current month, as noted by the Kiev City Military Administration in an official statement. The repercussions were felt across the city, with the disruption of electricity supply to 77 residential buildings and 120 institutions.

Mayor Vitali Klitschko shared on Telegram that the aftermath of the attack resulted in injuries to four adults and an 11-year-old child, all of whom sustained minor injuries. Additionally, private residences, apartment complexes, and a kindergarten in Kiev suffered damage from the debris of the downed drones, underscoring the widespread impact of the assault.
