The allocated GBP 2.5 billion for 2024-25 includes at least GBP 200 million for the rapid procurement and production of military drones for Ukraine, encompassing surveillance, long-range strike, and sea drones. These cutting-edge technologies aim to enhance Ukraine's defense capabilities against invading Russian forces.

Most of the drones are expected to be manufactured in the UK, with collaborative efforts to significantly increase the number of drones provided for Ukraine's defense. Sunak's visit also included meetings with emergency workers responding to the aftermath of Russian airstrikes.

In addition to the military aid, Sunak announced an additional GBP 18 million in aid for Ukraine, bringing the total support to nearly GBP 340 million. This funding will assist organizations like the UN and Red Cross in providing humanitarian aid on the frontline, with GBP 8 million dedicated to fortifying Ukraine's energy infrastructure against further Russian attacks.

As part of fostering closer ties, the UK will provide funding and resources for English language training in Ukraine, supporting proposed legislation to promote English in the country. This initiative aims to boost economic competitiveness and diplomatic ties, offering online English lessons for Ukrainians and teacher training.
