While formal identification is pending, Gurashman's family in Jalandhar has been informed. The police are treating his death as unexpected, and although there is no indication of foul play, a thorough investigation will be conducted to confirm this, said Detective Chief Superintendent James Conway.

A CCTV image of Gurashman taken before his disappearance has been released, and authorities are appealing for anyone who may have seen him in the Marsh Wall area on the evening of December 14 and the early hours of December 15 to come forward.

BJP leader Manjinder Singh Sirsa had previously raised awareness of Gurashman's disappearance and sought assistance from External Affairs Minister S. Jaishankar, Loughborough University, and the Indian High Commission.

Reacting to the news of Gurashman's death, Sirsa expressed deep sadness and extended condolences to the family and friends. This incident follows the recent discovery of another 23-year-old Indian student, Mitkumar Patel, found dead on the bank of the Thames River in November after being reported missing.
