Concerns arose when Patel did not return home from his routine walk on November 17. His cousin reported him missing, and in the subsequent days, other family members initiated efforts to locate him, including contacting missing persons charities and distributing posters in areas he frequented.

In response to the heartbreaking situation, Patel's cousins have initiated a fundraising campaign to repatriate his body to India.
