The Royal Canadian Mounted Police (RCMP) is reportedly expected to arrest two men believed to be involved in the fatal shooting of Sikh separatist leader Hardeep Singh Nijjar in June. Investigators have been surveilling the suspects for months, and charges could be laid in a matter of weeks, according to sources cited by The Globe and Mail.

The RCMP is yet to respond to inquiries about the investigation and the potential imminent charges. Hardeep Singh Nijjar, 45, was shot multiple times outside a Sikh temple in British Columbia on June 18. In September, Prime Minister Justin Trudeau accused the Indian government of involvement in the shooting, a claim vehemently denied by India. The dispute led to strained bilateral relations, with diplomatic expulsions, visa suspensions, and the suspension of trade talks.

The Indian government stated that Nijjar was actively involved in supporting the banned militant group Khalistan Tiger Force. Trudeau, in a recent interview, mentioned that his statement linking Indian agents to the killing was intended as a deterrent and an extra "level of deterrence" to prevent similar actions in Canada.
