Slovak Prime Minister Robert Fico released a letter, Monday to the head of the U.S. Department of Government Efficiency, Elon Musk, requesting information on U.S. funds dispensed to Slovak NGOs and the media.
In his letter uploaded on social media, Fico said that the abuse of foreign funds in Slovakia is committed against part of political forces and he supposed that he would meet Musk in person.
To differentiate between good projects and what he termed "blatant interference in Slovakia's internal affairs," Fico called on Musk to help make information available about grants and funding disbursed by the USAID to NGOs, media, and individual journalists in Slovakia.
In January, U.S. President Donald Trump signed an executive order that froze all foreign aid disbursed by USAID for 90 days and later granted several exceptions.
