Saudi Arabi bans Tablighi Jamaat, calls it 'one of the gates of terrorism'

With Saudi Arabia's charities being hindered due to the ban, the primary source of funds for the movement launched by the group in India has also been cut off. The Minister of Islamic Affairs also made an announcement on social media urging mosques to warn people from associating with that group and inform them about the danger that Tablighi Jamaat poses to society

Saudi Arabia has banned Tablighi Jamaat, the Islamist proselytizing movement, terming it as a 'danger to society' and claiming it to be 'one of the gates of terrorism', news agency ANI reported. With Saudi Arabia's charities being hindered due to the ban, the primary source of funds for the movement launched by the group in India has also been cut off. The Minister of Islamic Affairs also made an announcement on social media urging mosques to warn people from associating with that group and inform them about the danger that Tablighi Jamaat poses to society.

"His Excellency the Minister of Islamic Affairs, Dr Abdullatif Al_Alsheikh directed the mosques' preachers and the mosques that held Friday prayer temporary to allocate the next Friday sermon 5/6/1443 H to warn against (the Tablighi and Da'wah group) which is called (Al Ahbab)," the Ministry of Islamic Affairs of Saudi Arabia wrote in his tweet.

2. The minister said that the group is a gate of terrorism even if they claim otherwise. He further pointed out that they are a danger to society and that the Tablighi and Da'wah Group are both prohibited in the Kingdom of Saudi Arabia.

3. Tablighi Jamaat is a transnational Sunni Islamic missionary movement that exhorts members and other Muslims to follow the pure form of Sunni Islam.
