Russia Extends Ban on Western Food Imports for Another 2 Years

It will be the first time for the extension to run for over a year as the embargo runs from January 1, 2025, till December 31, 2026. The ban was originally made in August 2014 following the Russia-Ukraine conflict and directs the ban on products from the US, the EU, Australia, Norway, and Canada.

Russian President Vladimir Putin has signed a decree to extend an embargo on agricultural products from Western countries for another two years, local media reported Monday.

It will be the first time for the extension to run for over a year as the embargo runs from January 1, 2025, till December 31, 2026. The ban was originally made in August 2014 following the Russia-Ukraine conflict and directs the ban on products from the US, the EU, Australia, Norway, and Canada.

Later it has extended to the other countries of Europe, including Ukraine, as well. According to different sources, Putin has disclosed that Russia's agricultural development was fueled by this import ban.
