Pyongyang touts 'invincible' ties with China on Korean War anniversary

The day of the report marks the 71st anniversary of Beijing's participation in the 1950-52 Korean War. Rodong Sinmun, the official paper of North's ruling Workers' Party of Korea further said that the two socialist countries have vowed to continue their ties. North Korea has been seeking to boost rapport with its traditional ally amid an impasse in nuclear negotiations with the US.

Pyongyang's official newspaper on Monday said that North Korea and China will continue with their invincible friendly relations for a common cause.

The day of the report marks the 71st anniversary of Beijing's participation in the 1950-52 Korean War. Rodong Sinmun, the official paper of North's ruling Workers' Party of Korea further said that the two socialist countries have vowed to continue their ties.

"The invincible friendship (between the North and China) established by blood will be firmly handed down on the road toward a common cause," Rodong Sinmun said. The Chinese also supported the North during the Korean war. China's People's Volunteer Army (PVA) fought alongside the soldiers of the north against the south and US-led UN troops supporting the south.

The newspaper also said that the everlasting accomplishments and heroic deeds of the PVA martyrs, who unsparingly gave up their youth and lives, will continue to shine along with the history of friendship between North Korea and China.

Chinese President Xi Jinping also recently talked about raising a "new stage" with North Korea and strengthening the bilateral relations with them.
