North Korea Celebrates Strengthened Relations with Russia on Anniversary of Kim-Putin Summit

The first meeting between Kim and Putin took place on April 25, 2019, in Vladivostok, a city in eastern Russia. They convened again at the Vostochny spaceport in Russia in September of the previous year, as reported by Yonhap news agency.

North Korea reiterated its intention to enhance its relationship with Russia as it marked the fifth anniversary of the inaugural summit between its leader Kim Jong-un and Russian President Vladimir Putin.

North Korean Vice Foreign Minister Im Chon-il emphasized "It is the consistent stand of the DPRK government to attach utmost importance to the DPRK-Russia relations and invariably develop the tradition of deep-rooted friendship", in a statement in English posted on the ministry's website. DPRK refers to North Korea's official title, the Democratic People's Republic of Korea.

According to the official, the collaboration between the two countries has been reinforced, with mutual support against military threats and provocations, as well as the imperialistic tactics perceived as overbearing and arbitrary.

"The DPRK-Russia relations rooted in comradeship and militant unity will steadily develop into invincible comradely relations and eternal strategic relations," Im said.

I affirmed North Korea's position in favor of Russia in its conflict with Ukraine, promising to support the Russian army in its military campaigns.

The relationship between the capital of North Korea, Pyongyang, and Moscow  has been seriously enhanced, and after their most recent summit, it has caused widespread speculation about their possible arms supplies to arm Russia's military operations.
