I received this morning in my office in Jerusalem the Ambassador of India to Israel, J.P. Singh. We spoke about deepening and expanding the cooperation between Israel and India, especially security and economic — a great partnership based on common values and interests. Later, I participated in a meeting with some senior Indian journalists and responded to their questions," Netanyahu wrote on X.

According to the Indian Embassy in Israel, Netanyahu underlined the importance of deepening the strategic relationship between the two nations. Ambassador Singh conveyed greetings from Prime Minister Narendra Modi and reaffirmed India’s commitment to sustaining the positive momentum in bilateral ties.

This top-level interaction comes after the New Delhi discussions last month between India's Defence Secretary Rajesh Kumar Singh and Israel's Director General of the Ministry of Defence Amir Baram. The two sides decided to further defence cooperation on a long-term basis and work towards developing an institutional framework so as to further enhance defence relations.

In that meeting, the Israeli DG condemned the April 22 terrorist attack in Pahalgam and offered Israel's complete support to India's counterterrorism efforts. Defence Secretary Singh reaffirmed India's zero-tolerance towards terrorism, and also condemned the October 7, 2023, terrorist attacks in Israel and demanded the immediate release of all hostages.

Baram's visit was regarded as a milestone in the reinforcement of defence ties and the reaffirmation of the mutual commitment of the two countries to their strategic partnership.
