At least nine individuals were injured during a shooting at a water park in Rochester Hills, a suburb north of Detroit, Michigan, according to the police. The incident occurred around 5 p.m. on Saturday when a man exited a vehicle and fired 28 rounds from a handgun, stated Oakland County Sheriff Michael Bouchard during a press briefing.
"There are nine, possibly ten, victims with different types of injuries," Bouchard mentioned, noting that the injured included people of various ages, with the youngest victim being eight years old, as reported by Xinhua news agency.
The suspect was eventually "contained" in a residence located half a mile from the park, Bouchard said.
At the scene, law enforcement recovered a 9-mm handgun along with three magazines.
On Saturday evening, the police issued an emergency alert to Rochester Hills residents about an "active shooter," advising them to "avoid the area and seek shelter."
