The Israeli government had approved the appointment of Reuven Azar as the new Ambassador to India in December 2023.

The Israeli diplomat presented his credentials to the Chief of Protocol at the Ministry of External Affairs on Thursday and said, "I look forward to fostering closer ties and cooperation between two great nations."

Azar has earlier served as the head of the Israel-US-China internal task force in the Ministry of Foreign Affairs, and as foreign policy advisor to the Prime Minister of Israel.

"Wishing you great success with this new, yet exciting journey in incredible India! We are full of confidence he will carry our ever-growing India-Israel partnership to even greater heights!" – wrote the Israeli Embassy in India, just after the arrival of the new Ambassador.
