The Israel Defense Forces (IDF) on Thursday confirmed that its recent airstrikes in Syria have destroyed more than 90% of the country's strategic surface-to-air missiles.
The military has used Telegram to say the operation targeted Syria's aerial defense systems, severely weakening its military capabilities.
Fighter jets, helicopters, scud missiles, drones, surface-to-sea precision-guided missiles, and critical airbases including T4 and Ble airports, were among the key assets hit. The strikes have also targeted manufacturing sites. These include a facility located in Homs central to Syria's Scud missile project.
"In preparation for the possible collapse of the regime of former Syrian President Bashar al-Assad, the Israeli Air Force prepared an extensive plan to strike and eliminate advanced military capabilities in Syria, including strategic weapons," they said as a justification for their military actions across the border.
