An Indian-origin contender vying to challenge Sadiq Khan's bid for a third term as London Mayor asserts that the city's populace has been let down by the predominant political factions and expresses his vision to lead London akin to a seasoned CEO, prioritizing prosperity for all.
Born in Delhi, Tarun Ghulati, with a background in business and investment, believes his expertise is crucial for revitalizing London's status as the "global bank of the world," attracting the necessary investments. Standing as an Independent candidate among 13 competitors in the upcoming local elections on May 2, Ghulati emphasizes transforming London into a premier investment destination while ensuring safety and prosperity for its residents.
Highlighting safety as a paramount concern, Ghulati advocates for increased community policing and presence of officers on the streets, particularly to address safety issues faced by women at night. Additionally, he aims to overturn some of Sadiq Khan's unpopular policies such as the high costs associated with Ultra Low Emissions Zone (ULEZ) charges and Low Traffic Neighbourhoods (LTNs), which he perceives as burdensome to Londoners.
Ghulati's platform also focuses on creating more affordable housing, minimizing council tax, boosting tourism, and ensuring free school meals. He criticizes both the incumbent Labour Party and the Conservative Party candidates for their failure to address the city's pressing issues effectively, asserting that his candidacy is driven by a commitment to London and its residents.
With a claim of garnering support across various boroughs and featuring in the official mini manifesto booklet, Ghulati aims to take on the responsibilities of addressing local issues affecting Londoners, spanning transportation, policing, housing, and environmental concerns, if elected as the next Mayor of London.
