India Urges Citizens to Remain Cautious and Vigilant When Visiting the UK

The Indian High Commission in London issued a travel advisory on Tuesday, asking its nationals visiting the UK to remain "vigilant" and exercise "appropriate caution" while in the country, in the backdrop of recent incidents of violence and arson that marred anti-immigrant demonstrations over the weekend. These protests were a consequence of a spate of mass stabbings in Southport, a town in northwest England, last month.

On these lines, the Keir Starmer government has assured that those engaged in violent acts such as assault on the police, arson, and loot will be dealt with strict provisions of the law. UK Home Secretary Yvette Cooper said clearly that the country will not put up with criminality, extremism, or racist attacks—these run contrary to the values of the United Kingdom. Starmer, from Downing Street, reiterated this line, insisting that such violent actions are not legitimate protest but organized criminal behavior that will meet arrests and resulting legal processes.
