India Has Shifted from Women-Centric to Women-Led Development, Ministers Says at Davos

The remarks were made during the inauguration of the Women Leadership or WeLead Lounge at the World Economic Forum Annual Meeting. 

Union ministers Smriti Irani and Hardeep Singh Puri stated that India has transitioned from women-centric development to women-led development under the leadership of Prime Minister Narendra Modi.

The lounge, established by the Ministry of Women and Child Development in collaboration with the Bill and Melinda Gates Foundation and CII, signifies India's commitment to women-led development.

Smriti Irani expressed satisfaction with the lounge and highlighted the Modi government's efforts in promoting women-led development through various schemes, including those related to housing and cooking fuel.

Hardeep Singh Puri concurred, stating that India has progressed from a women-centric development model to a more advanced women-led development model. He also emphasized the positive impact of this development model on the GDP.
