During a press briefing at the scene, French Interior Minister Gerald Darmanin disclosed that the suspect is a 26-year-old French man who had received a four-year prison sentence in 2016. The French national anti-terrorism prosecutor's office has taken charge of the investigation.

In response to the incident, French Prime Minister Elisabeth Borne asserted, "We will not give in to terrorism," emphasizing the country's commitment to resisting acts of terror.
