US President Joe Biden has directed American troops to intervene in the defense of Israel that was attacked by missiles from Iran.
The spokesperson for US National Security Council, Sean Savett, said on the social media platform X that President Biden and Vice President Kamala Harris "are monitoring the Iranian attack against Israel from the White House Situation Room & receiving regular updates from their national security team".
He asked the United States to assist Israel to defend itself against Iran attacks & to shoot down missiles targeting Israel, the spokesperson added.
The statement comes at a time when Iran's Islamic Revolution Guards Corps said it has targeted Israel with dozens of ballistic missiles.
