Kylian Mbappe has reportedly decided to leave Ligue 1 at the end of the season and join Real Madrid after his contract with Paris Saint-Germain (PSG) expires in June. Multiple sources, including Le Parisien and ESPN, have reported that Mbappe, the 25-year-old French captain, has made this decision.
While Mbappe has not officially informed PSG or Real Madrid of his decision, an announcement is expected next week, according to ESPN's sources. Last year, Mbappe stated that he would not renew his contract with PSG, which ends at the conclusion of the 2023-24 season, allowing him to leave for free.
Le Parisien reported, "Mbappe has decided to leave Ligue 1 at the end of the season and join the biggest club in the world, which has always been waiting for him." PSG had reportedly prepared two scenarios for their future plans, one with Mbappe staying and one without. Sources indicate that the club had been feeling for a few weeks that Mbappe might leave.
With Mbappe's future apparently decided, PSG is said to be considering AC Milan's Rafael Leao as his potential replacement. Mbappe has been a key player for PSG, scoring 241 goals in 288 appearances in all competitions since joining from Monaco.
