Nunez's goal, which ended a 12-match goal drought in all competitions, came shortly after Burnley missed a crucial counter-attack opportunity. Liverpool capitalized on the hosts' miss, with Nunez finding the net for the first time since November 1st.
Despite Burnley's efforts, Liverpool dominated the match, with chances to extend their lead. Mohamed Salah had a shot saved by Burnley's goalkeeper, and Cody Gakpo missed a chance by shooting over the bar. Although Liverpool had a goal ruled out by VAR and faced increased pressure from Burnley, they eventually secured their second goal.
Jota, making a return from injury, scored Liverpool's second goal by slotting the ball through the legs of Burnley's goalkeeper from a tight angle. The victory propelled Liverpool to the top of the Premier League with 42 points after 19 matches, while Burnley remains in 19th place with 11 points, trailing Everton by five points with a game in hand.
