Sharing the document on social media X on Friday, Union Minister for Heavy Industries and Steel H.D. Kumaraswamy lashed out at CM Siddaramaiah for maintaining that his family had no idea about the acquisition of their land by the Mysuru Urban Development Authority (MUDA).

Krishna said Siddaramaiah had suppressed vital information in his writ petition to get relief. He alleged that such suppression amounts to contempt of court and the lawyers would bring it to the notice of the court when the High Court takes up Siddaramaiah's writ petition for hearing on August 29.

Kumaraswamy emphasized, "I have not allocated even a small area to Sai Venkateshwara Minerals Company. They have not conducted any mining activities, the Central government did not approve their operations, and the state has not suffered any financial loss. Given these circumstances, how can there be a request for prosecution approval from the Governor?"

"Even if Siddaramaiah is sent to jail, he is not ready to leave the seat of power. He should resign from the position and face the investigation as he is directly involved in the case. If the investigation proves that he is not guilty, he can become the Chief Minister again. We will have no objection to it," State BJP SC Morcha President and BJP MLA Cement Manjunath said.

"He said that though the report by the Lokayukta Special Investigation Team, praying for permission from the Governor to file a chargesheet, was submitted long back, no action has been taken by the Governor as of now.

"Even today, attempts to throttle the backward classes are seen. The caste census undertaken by the Karnataka government was the country's first. It was taken up to understand the economic and social conditions of various communities so as to ensure social justice. I will fight for equality and social justice despite political hurdles," Siddaramaiah told a gathering at the 109th birth anniversary celebration of former Chief Minister D. Devaraj Urs in Vidhana Soudha Banquet Hall here.

Speaking to the media here, Siddaramaiah flayed the Governor's actions, pointing out that though the Lokayukta SIT applied in November 2023 for permission to file a charge sheet against Kumaraswamy in the SSVM case, the Governor has failed to give his consent.

In a post on the social media platform X, the Karnataka CM shared,  “As a law-abiding citizen with faith in the Constitution and the judiciary’s power to uphold justice and fairness, I approached the Hon’ble High Court of Karnataka against the illegal and politically motivated decision of the Governor of Karnataka to permit an inquiry and prosecution based on trumped-up allegations against me.”

At a press conference at the BJP National Headquarters, party spokesperson Sambit Patra charged Siddaramaiah with a Rs 4000 crore scam relating to MUDA and said that his acts are no different from that of the Gandhi family. He drew a parallel between the Gandhi family's alleged involvement in the Rs 5000 crore National Herald case, where Sonia Gandhi and Rahul Gandhi are out on bail. He criticised Siddaramaiah for allegedly toeing a similar line.

In a press briefing in Bengaluru, HM Parameshwara noted, “We will first engage with the legal team to determine the best course of action.”
