Da Silva leads West Indies fightback in series decider against England

With Da Silva batting on 54 off 152 balls, with Kemar Roach on 25 at stumps as West Indies reached 232/8 after restricting England to 204 in their first innings on a topsy-turvy second day on Friday. West Indies had looked in serious trouble after losing six wickets for 45 runs on either side of lunch, with Chris Woakes picking up three in an excellent spell.

India off-spin all-rounder Jayant Yadav said the team is currently looking at partnerships with the ball ahead of day three's play in the first Test against Sri Lanka. South African pace bowler Anrich Nortje ruled out of India Test series

Cricket South Africa (CSA) posted a squad update on twitter on Tuesday, saying, "Anrich Nortje has been ruled out of the 3-match #BetwayTestSeries due to a persistent injury (Ambulance symbol)." It also said that no replacement would be brought in for the 28-year-old right-arm fast bowler, who bowled some of the fastest deliveries in the Indian Premier League (IPL) 2021 for Delhi Capitals.

Starting the day at 143/3, Ellyse Perry and Ashleigh Gardner went on to share an 89-run stand before Meghna Singh and Pooja Vastrakar triggered a batting collapse. With the new ball just nine deliveries away, Ashleigh, given a life at 20, was out with Mithali Raj pulling off a diving catch at mid-off off Deepti Sharma. Meghna took her maiden Test wicket with a lovely outswinger to get Annabel Sutherland caught behind. Four overs later, Meghna had her second wicket of the day with an inswinger trapping Sophie Molineux lbw.
