Alcaraz completed his first-round victory against Jeremy Chardy on Tuesday at Wimbledon. The Spaniard emerged victorious on No. 1 Court, while Federer, who was in attendance at the All-England Club for a special ceremony to celebrate his achievements, was sitting in the Royal Box on Centre Court watching defending champion Elena Rybakina.

Rybakina bounced back from a slow start to kick off her Wimbledon title defense with a 4-6, 6-1, 6-2 defeat of Shelby Rogers in 1 hour and 43 minutes. Ons Jabeur started on what could prove a tough route for a repeat of last year's appearance in the Ladies' Singles final as she defeated Magdalena Frech 6-3, 6-3 on Tuesday. On another rain-interrupted day at SW19 in London, the matches involving Rybakina and Jabeur were the only two Ladies' Singles matches to be completed on Tuesday.

Under the roof on Court 1, the Spaniard overpowered the 36-year-old Frenchman with his destructive groundstrokes, sealing a 6-0, 6-2, 7-5 victory in one hour and 53 minutes. Two-time champion Andy Murray opened his campaign with a clinical victory early in the afternoon on his favourite surface when the home favourite outclassed his fellow Briton Ryan Peniston 6-3, 6-0, 6-1 on Centre Court.
