The Indo-Australian pair, seeded sixth, got the better of David Pel of the Netherlands and Reese Stalder of the United States in a tough three-setter, beating the unseeded opponents 7-5, 4-6, 7-6(5) in two hours and 19 minutes. Bopanna, ranked 12th in the world doubles rankings, and world No. 16 Matthew Ebden, who won the Wimbledon doubles title with Max Purcell last year, put on a disciplined performance in the first set.

One of three qualifiers to reach the third round, Andreeva is the only one to reach the last 16, claiming the last pre-quarterfinal berth.

He kept the 25-year-old Russian on the backfoot with massive serving before Rublev roared back to win 7-5, 6-3, 6-7(6), 6-7(5) 6-4 after three hours and 17 minutes.

Kvitova, who won the Wimbledon title in 2011 and 2014, extended her winning streak to eight matches in 2023 after beating Stevanovic 6-3, 7-5 on Saturday. Stevanovic is on a high, having captured her 31st career WTA Tour title two weeks ago in Berlin.
